We have been working hard all spring and summer on writing the second book in The Jadesin Journals series, A MAVEN’S KEY. Despite a pandemic, closures, face mask policies, and the next normal of our working lives, we have been able to keep creative juices flowing and continue the story of Espereva, the world you fell in love with from “A Feather’s Force” with Ember.
Hard at work behind the scenes, we hired an illustrator, Serena Martin, to capture the Maven Trait of Marn to center on the front cover. We continued working with our designer, Melissa McCawley of Wildblue Creative.
About A MAVEN’S KEY:
Faced with betrayal and danger, Marn, a Maven for the Jadesin Guild, must balance his duties and assert his leadership to defeat his enemies and secure the safety of his family. As a member of the task force, a trainer for recently matured Affinities, and an abilities instructor for the Jadesin Guild’s youth, Marn gets pulled into multiple directions daily. It proves to be overwhelming when another young Affinity gets captured by Kobaloi during one of his routine trainings. Back at Jadesin, the group is preparing to move to a semi-permanent location when it is brought to the elders’ attention that Wren’s trauma from her capture is getting significantly worse. Nykolia requests Marn to help Talon and Ember escort Wren to another guild, Zarya, to see a medical specialist. When they travel to Zarya, Marn learns that some of the older villages have bunkers where other Affinities are hiding. He believes his family may have been in hiding all this time in his village.
